I had the pleasure of attending and participating in the inaugural meeting of the Parenteral Drug Association – Missouri Valley Chapter on April 25th, 2011. ACH has been a member of the PDA for the past 3 years. In July of 2010, the members within the 4 state regions of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri were approached to form a new chapter, as the next closest chapter of the PDA was located in Denver. Based on the response and level of participation proceedings were started to initiate the Missouri Valley group. After forms were submitted and reviewed approval was granted from the PDA, and the Missouri Valley chapter was born.
The inaugural meeting was a booming success, attendance was estimated at 75 participants, and keynote speakers from the FDA and PDA president gave informative presentations as to the direction of the pharmaceutical industry. Also discussed were the underlying reasons for the number of mergers and acquisitions occurring within the industry. A large focus for growth in the industry will be given to the Bio-Tech markets thru 2016.
The PDA is a group of individuals within the Pharmaceutical industry which collaborate to raise the level of standards and practices within the industry to ensure drugs and vaccines are safe, effective and reach the patient in good condition via quality protective packaging.
